Slippers are one of the most dependable products in footwear sourcing. They sell year-round, the manufacturing process is well established, and margins hold up across retail channels. But “well established” does not mean “no pitfalls.” Most sourcing problems start before a single sample is made: wrong material choice, unclear MOQ expectations, or a supplier who quotes a price that has no relation to the factory cost structure.

What buyers call slippers (and why it matters for sourcing)
“Slipper” covers a wide range, and different terms lead to different products:
- House slippers / indoor slippers — soft-sole, fleece or EVA, worn indoors.
- Outdoor slippers — thicker EVA or rubber soles, worn in the garden, garage, or street.
- Slides — open-back, one-piece EVA or rubber, the fastest-growing style.
- Flip-flops — the thong-style sandal, usually EVA or rubber.
- Fur slippers / plush slippers — fleece or faux-fur lined, mostly autumn–winter.
When you send an inquiry, use the exact term for what you want. “Slippers” alone gets you quotes for three different products. We ask every buyer for a photo or reference link before quoting — a good factory will do the same, because it costs money to quote the wrong product.
Materials: the decision that sets everything else
The material determines price, durability, use case, and production method. Four materials cover almost all custom slipper orders:
EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) — the workhorse. Lightweight, waterproof, inexpensive, and easy to mold into any shape. Used for slides, outdoor slippers, and most summer styles. Expect roughly US$1.20–3.00 per pair wholesale depending on density and thickness. EVA is injection-molded, which means fast production and low tooling cost.
Rubber (natural or TPR) — heavier, more durable, better traction. Common for outdoor and work-style slippers. Prices start around US$1.50–3.50 per pair. Rubber soles wear longer than EVA but weigh more.
Fleece / faux fur (for fur slippers) — upper in plush or fleece, usually over an EVA or rubber sole. Autumn–winter bestseller. Price depends heavily on the fabric quality; cheap fleece pills and sheds after weeks of wear, which is the #1 complaint we hear from resellers who bought on price alone.
Linen / bamboo fiber — niche but growing. Breathable, natural-feeling uppers for premium house slippers. Higher cost, smaller market.

MOQ: realistic numbers for custom slippers
MOQs depend on whether you are buying stock styles or ordering custom. Honest ranges from our factory:

Two practical notes. First, a lower MOQ with a slightly higher unit price is usually the smarter first order — you test the market before committing to a container of one design. Second, if a supplier quotes an MOQ far below these ranges for a fully custom mold, ask how the tooling cost is covered. It usually means the “mold fee” is hidden in the unit price, which makes small reorders expensive later.
Pricing: what a real quote includes
List prices on Alibaba look simple. The full cost picture is not:
- Unit price — US$1.20–3.50 per pair depending on material, as above.
- Mold / tooling — one-time US$300–2,000 per style for EVA injection molds, more for rubber. You should own the mold.
- Printing / branding — logo printing, embroidery, or heat transfer adds a small per-pair cost. Embroidery on fleece slippers is common for premium orders.
- Packaging — poly bags are standard; custom boxes or hang tags cost more but matter at retail.
- Shipping — slippers compress well. Sea freight is the normal choice; a 10,000-pair order ships as a modest number of cartons.
A realistic ballpark: custom EVA slippers at 1,000 pairs typically land around US$1.80–2.80/pair FOB with simple packaging, plus a one-time mold fee of US$500–1,500. At 10,000 pairs the unit price usually drops 15–25%. These are ranges from our current price list — outside that band, ask questions.
Lead times: plan backward from your season
Slippers are seasonal. If you need summer stock by April, you start sourcing in January — not March.

Total from order to US warehouse by sea: 6–8 weeks is a safe planning number. For fleece slippers, add 3–5 days for fabric sourcing in autumn season, when fleece demand spikes across the industry.

What is the difference between EVA and rubber slippers?
EVA is lighter, cheaper, and waterproof — best for slides and summer styles. Rubber is heavier, more durable, and grips better — better for outdoor and work styles. For most first orders, EVA is the right starting point.
Can I order slippers with my own logo?
Yes. Logo printing, embroidery, heat transfer, and even custom molds are standard. MOQ depends on the method: printing from 500 pairs, embroidery from 500–1,000, custom mold from 1,000–3,000.
What is the best material for winter slippers?
Fleece or faux-fur upper over an EVA or rubber sole. The sole keeps it waterproof; the upper keeps it warm. Order early — fleece fabric gets tight in Q3–Q4.
How long does a sample take?
5–7 days for stock styles with your logo or color. Custom molds add mold-making time on top.
